Year 1 Counting From a Larger Group

Our latest resources concentrate on just one aspect of counting. Counting may seem to be a straightforward task, but it does involve a number of steps. One of these steps is counting from a larger group. This involves counting a number of objects from a larger group e.g. counting four spoons from a tray of 6 spoons. At first this should be done with real objects, counters, cubes, spoons etc. It is a good idea to pick the objects up or move them. This can lead on to counting from a number of images, marking each image that has been counted.
Remember to ask children how many they have counted and look out for children who count the group again rather than recalling the final number.
We have 4 new sets of resources on counting from a larger group; all brightly coloured and fun to do. Why not take a look now.
