Jane Austen’s 250th birthday
Celebrations have been taking place across the country this year to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen. She was born on 16th December 1775 in Steventon, Hampshire, the seventh child and youngest daughter of George and Cassandra Austen. By the time of her death in 1817 aged just 41, she had written six of the greatest novels of all time including Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.
We have carefully selected a range of interesting passages from her novels suitable for Key Stage 2 children and used them to create comprehension activities and cloze procedures.
