New Year 2: Shape
We develop the shape work published this week in Year 1 by looking at more complicated 2D shapes in pictures. These include shapes within shapes and use terms such as rectangle, triangle and circle.
Shapes are often presented to children in a standard way but it is important that children should recognise that there is no such thing as an upside down triangle and that a square can be shown at an angle so that it looks like a diamond.
We have also published further shape work which include hexagons, heptagons, nonagons and parallelograms – tricky!
