A number bond is a pair of numbers that you can add together to make another number. Children usually begin to add two numbers by counting on, but it is important that they learn the number bonds to 10, off by heart. These are:

• 0 + 10
• 1 + 9
• 2 + 8
• 3 + 7
• 4 + 6
• 5 + 5.
