Our latest resources for Year 1 are aimed at helping children recognise and sort 3D shapes. It is a good idea to have a collection of different shapes that can be held and the differences between them discussed. This can lead on to a more formal approach, identifying number of sides, curved or flat sides etc., before naming types of shape such as cube, sphere and pyramid.
