Our new Year 6 resources will be a real help for children, who are now expected to read, write and understand very large numbers, up to 10,000,000. It is important for them to learn how numbers are said. For example, 345,678 should be said as three hundred and forty-five thousand, six hundred and seventy-eight and not just three, four, five, six, seven, eight. There are various ways that these large numbers can be separated into sections (HTO) to make them easier to read. Using a comma has been an important change in the curriculum, although a space can also be used.
