Counting objects from a larger group is the focus of this week’s new resources for Year 1. The aim is to count a given number of objects from a larger group. At first this should be done using real objects, before moving onto images on paper.

Once the correct number have been counted or coloured it is a good idea to ask ‘How many?’. They should be able to recall this, but watch out for children who then recount the selection again.
