Children in Year 6 will be expected to become proficient in the long division method, with both no remainders and remainders. At first, they will need help with setting out the long divisions and we have just published two new sets of pages where grids are provided and examples shown. When working with remainders it is important that children check that the remainder is less than the number they are dividing by.

This is a topic that will probably need returning to on several occasions as there are so many steps involved and plenty of practice makes perfect!
