Comparing the number of objects can prove to be tricky for young children. Terms such as ‘more’, ‘the same’ and ‘fewer’ are introduced, but the Programme of Study states that ‘less than’, ‘more than’ and ‘equal to’ are also introduced, together with the symbols, < > and =.
