Polar bears are big animals but they need help in deciding which is the bigger number on each pair of bears. Once again we keep to very small numbers.
Understanding 'more than' and 'less than' are key concepts in the early years. Here is a set of worksheets which concentrates on which group of animals there are less of.
The boys are looking at the gold coins and trying to decide which of the sets has less in. Encourage your child to make up short sentences such as 'two coins is less than four coins'.
Time for some colouring of elephants, cats and ducks - but not too much as only the groups with less in have to be coloured. Encourage the use of the terms 'less than' and 'more than' during these exercises.
